Bowen and Janie Scarff

Bowen and Janie Scarff

Bowen and Janie Scarff could remember a time when a drive to the college was a trip up the middle road in Kent and a hard right south to campus in Auburn. Of course the drive would have been in a hard-working Ford from Bowen Scarff Ford in Kent. With Bowen managing the dealership, and their 4 kids becoming adults, Janie served on the GRCC Foundation Board and the Scarff name has been associated with Green River ever since. Bowen and Janie started a scholarship endowment in the mid 1990's to support students in the automotive technology and auto-body programs. Every December, Bowen and Janie, and other representatives of the dealership visit campus for a lunch with the students and faculty of the programs. Bowen offers encouragement to the students and advises them that there is good money to be made in the automotive fields for people willing to work hard and get their hands dirty, but he also reminds them that when they are successful, they too have a responsibility to help the next generation of students.
